The registration process of political parties in Fiji is expected to be modernised as the country prepares for a new constitution and electoral system.
Attorney General and Minister for Elections Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said this process is necessary to ensure that the parties registered have a significant following in the country.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the constitution makers will need to look at the political party registration process.
Another issue that has been highlighted is that people need to decide on whether they want all political parties to publicly declare who is providing financial assistance to the parties.
