Rakiraki businessman urges Govt to do more on dredging

A concerned businessman from Rakiraki Town is urging the government to dredge the Rakiraki River after his business was closed throughout the week due to the heavy rain experienced over the last few days.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Managing Director for Haroon’s Hardware Mohammed Haroon says dredging of rivers is very important as it controls flooding.

Haroon says the government is playing their part, but it should do more.

He says rain started before Christmas, and most of them had a dull Christmas because of the weather.

Haroon says as an entrepreneur, they cannot recover what was lost during the floods, but they will still manage.
