Raiwaqa residents frustrated over noise and drunken behaviour this festive season despite police intervention

Residents of Avon Place in Raiwaqa are raising serious concerns about excessive noise and drunk and disorderly behaviour from gatherings at Eagles Court that has been ongoing since Sunday and are now calling for stronger and more consistent action to address the disturbance, especially as the festive season continues.

They say the noise is affecting about 15 families in the area.

Residents say they reported the matter to Raiwaqa Police, and while the gathering temporarily stopped after officers intervened, it resumed immediately after police left.

They say the gathering is being held in a Ministry of Waterways tent.

When fijivillage News reached out to the Police regarding the growing concerns, Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says despite the festive season, they are calling on members of the community to be considerate of other people around them.

Driu says police will continue to patrol the streets at night to ensure the safety and security of everyone.

He urges the residents to continue reporting such matters to the Police.
