Former Australian commentator and Queensland legend Paul Vautin has called out the Maroons team for being soft and failing to get physical with the NSW Blues in game one last month.
Vautin says the Maroons played soft and were not willing to take the challenge to NSW in the physicality stakes, and it was the first time in 34 years he has actually sat at home and watched a game from the lounge chair and he did not enjoy it too much.
He says he was yelling and screaming at the screen because not one Blues player was bruised in game 1, and he thought that the Maroons were soft.
He adds that this is Origin and they have just got to rip, tear, and show aggressiveness.
Vautin further says that dropping captain Daly Cherry-Evans was unfair, but he backed Maroons’ coach Billy Slater’s decision-making.
The Queensland Maroons will take on the NSW Blues in game 2 of the State of Origin at 10.05pm tonight.
