Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama has today revealed that he has managed to find documents at the PM's Office which shows that plans were being drawn up late last year to build a new Official PM's residence which would have cost taxpayers 6.4 million dollars.
Bainimarama said the document dates back to November last year and alleges that Qarase had already approved the project.
Bainimarama stresses that this alleged practice will continue
if the People's Charter is not formulated.
He also questions Qarase on why the SDL party is not willing to join the National Council for Building a Better Fiji to work on the Charter as its not an initiative to hurt someone.
Meanwhile Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase has rejected the suggestions that he wanted to build a 6.4 million dollar home and said that his political ambition is not based on staying at the new PM's residence.
Qarase said only about 1 million dollars was allocated for the new residence.
