As the government gets ready to embark on the preparation of a new constitution, former Prime Minister and SDL Leader, Laisenia Qarase said his party will win in the next elections.
Qarase has welcomed the government's decision to allow everyone to participate in the constitution consultation process.
However he said any changes should be made by an elected government.
Qarase said that he will contest the next elections and SDL is very confident of its chances.
Attorney General and Minister for Elections, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that the wide consultations with the people of Fiji is needed before the next constitution is approved.
Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has also stated that some issues in the process are non-negotiable and these include one person one vote, 18 year olds allowed to vote and equal citizenry.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the consultation process will be followed before the new constitution comes into place by next February despite comments being by some politicians and unionists.
