Qarase Allowed Overseas Travel
Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase has been granted variation to his bail conditions by the High Court this morning which allows him to travel abroad.

Qarase who is charged with various counts of abuse of office by FICAC, had applied to vary his bail so that he could travel to Australia to visit his children and grandchildren.

There was no objection from FICAC to the application.

They only stressed that Qarase should be back in the country before the 5th of next month when his case is listed for mention.

Qarase was charged with two counts of abuse of office with regards to the extinct Mataqali funds and shares in Fijian Holdings Limited.
