Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama lodged his application to register the proposed Fiji First Party in the last hour.
Bainimarama submitted the 40,083 signatures and paid the registration fees of $5,005 to the Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties Mohammed Saneem.
Doctor Jiko Luveni is the President of the proposed Fiji First Party.
Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and former Fiji Labour Party senator Bijai Prasad are the two Vice Presidents while Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is the General Secretary.
Bainimarama is the leader of the proposed Fiji First Party.
He said people from all walks of life signed up for the proposed Fiji First Party when they went around the country.
Bainimarama said once the party is registered, it will set up branches around Fiji.
Mohammed Saneem said the registration process will take about 28 days and they have the registration objection period and verification of signatures.
Former Fiji Labour Party senator Bijai Prasad who is the proposed Fiji First’s Vice President said he left the FLP after differences with the FLP leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere who is also the Vice President of the proposed party said he had no hesitation to join because he supports what has been achieved so far by the Bainimarama led government.
