Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said it was unfortunate that the Interim Prime Minister is setting pre-conditions like “No Charter, No Elections” prior to their talks on moving Fiji forward.
Although Qarase said he would not like to reveal the details of the meeting between him and Commodore Bainimarama last week, the Soqosoqo Duavata Ni Lewenivanua (SDL) leader made it clear that he does not support the idea of coming in with the Charter proposal to have the discussions.
However, Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama said Qarase is not in a position to dictate terms to him and the proposed People's Charter is the way forward for Fiji.
Bainimarama also said that the military and the Interim Government will now ensure that the SDL does not contest the next elections as they are opposing the Charter process and the work of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
