Political Parties Ready to Meet Interim PM

The Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party has accepted the invitation from the Interim Prime Minister to attend the first political party talks with Commodore Frank Bainimarama next Monday.However Party Leader, Iliesa Duvuloco said they want to take more representatives to the meeting.Duvuloco also said in the interview that Commodore Bainimarama has a few options available now which include the calling of elections in March 2009 as earlier promised and the option to bring back the Qarase led government to save cost and not to have an election.Meanwhile the SVT party has accepted the invitation from the Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama to be part of the first political dialogue forum to be held on Monday.SVT Leader and former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said it is a positive step in the right direction to move Fiji forward.Rabuka also said that it is a good move by the Interim PM not to have a set agenda for the first forum and also believes that Doctor Sitiveni Halapua of the Pacific Islands Development Program of the East West Centre is ideal to get such dialogue underway.A total of fifteen political parties have been invited by Commodore Bainimarama to engage in talks about the future of our country which is set to take place in the parliament complex next Monday.The political parties include Fiji Labour Party, National Federation Party, the SDL Party, Social Liberal Multi Cultural Party, Justice and Freedom Party, Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party, Party of the truth, National Democratic Party, Party of National Unity, National Alliance Party, Fiji Peoples Party, Conservative Alliance/Matanitu Vanua Party, the SVT Party, Coalition of Independent National Party and United Peoples Party.So far the SDL party, National Federation Party, Conservative Alliance Matanitu Vanua, National Alliance Party, the Party of National Unity, United Peoples Party and the Fiji Peoples Party have confirmed their attendance at the meeting on Monday. Meanwhile, the Fiji Labour Party meets later today to decide whether to accept Commodore Bainimarama's invitation.
