Police to investigate-Bole

Education Ministry Officials are expected to look into the incident at the Suva based school where a class three student was physically assaulted in the school's toilet yesterday.

Education Minister Filipe Bole said while he has not received any official briefing on the matter, his officials will look into it but he said they will leave the investigations in the hands of the police.

Police Spokesperson Ema Mua said a team from the CID is investigating the matter and they will not comment further at this stage.

Divisional Crime Officer Southern, SP Apisalome Tuiwakaya confirmed earlier today that the girl was found unconscious inside the toilet by other students at lunch time, who then reported it to the teachers.

The girl is admitted at the CWM hospital.

According to SP Tuiwakaya, a team of ten CID officers who are investigating the matter worked till midnight last night searching for clues.

He said officers from the Sexual Offences Unit are in the hospital with the girl.

SP Tuiwakaya has confirmed that they are yet to take the victim=s statement and are awaiting the doctor's report.

Police are also calling for information.
