Police are trying to establish whether the five people arrested with two plastic bags of white powder namely Contact-NT which is used to manufacture hard drugs, are allegedly involved in a major drug racket.
The five were arrested at the premises of a shipping company yard in Edinburgh Drive yesterday when they went to collect the white powder.
The two plastic bags of white powder were discovered in a shipping container which came in from abroad.
Assistant Spokesperson, Sergeant Suliano Tevita said the five were arrested after information by the police Drug Unit yesterday afternoon and remain in custody at the CID Headquarters in Toorak.
He said the investigation is now focused on the group these people are linked with, and whether they are using Fiji as a transit point for drug paddling.
Police also confiscated $10,000 cash from two of the five suspects.
