The Fiji Police Force is continuing with its investigation into alleged breaches of company policy by an Air Pacific employee and will only reveal further information once investigation is completed.
Police Director Operations, SSP Rusiate Tudravu said initial investigations are underway as the overseas media report that an Australian national has been taken into custody.
Radio New Zealand reported the employee who was suspended is Air Pacific pilot and union official Shalend Scott and he is in Police custody.
According to Radio New Zealand, Scott is an Australian national and the Federal Government has confirmed to them that an Australian national has been charged with unlawful access to documents.
SSP Tudravu said they will make further comments later today.
He added that they are working closely with Air Pacific on the matter.
Meanwhile, an Air Pacific Spokesperson had confirmed to Fijivillage that they have suspended the employee pending the completion of a Company investigation into serious potential breaches of Company’s Code of Conduct, company policies, and the employee’s terms of employment.
The Australian High Commission in Fiji is expected to comment today on the issue.
