Police are continuing their investigation into the possible element of negligence following the drowning of a one-year-old boy from Galoa Village in Serua.

Police say he was found floating near the shoreline last Tuesday afternoon.

They say it is alleged that the child was with his older sibling when he wandered into the sea, where the tragic incident occurred.

Police are urging parents and guardians to ensure close supervision of young children at all times to prevent such tragic incidents and loss of life.

The drowning toll currently stands at 46 compared to 47 for the same period last year.
