The top brass of the Fiji Police Force are expected to meet tomorrow to decide how to proceed with the complaint lodged by the SDL and others against the Commodore Frank Bainimarama and the RFMF for alleged treason.
Speaking to Fijivillage this afternoon, Director Police Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau said while the most critical thing the police had to consider is public order and stability they will respect the rights of the complainants.
After allegations from lawyer representing the SDL members who are complainants that they are being threatened since filing the complaint, Tabakau said the police believe there is no truth in their claims.
However, speaking to Fijivillage just moments ago, Lawyer representing the SDL members Niko Nawaikula said he had advised his clients to stay away from their homes after they received the alleged threats due to bad experiences they have had with the police and the military since December 2006.
The complainants include the ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase, Samisoni Tikoinasau, Ted Young, Mere Samisoni, Dr. Tupeni Baba, and Adi Sivia Qoro.
