Police Confiscate Homebrew

Police Confiscate Homebrew

Valelevu police last night raided a house on Saqali Road, Nadera, and confiscated 900 litres of homebrew.

Police media liaison officer Atunaisa Sokomuri said the value of the amount of homebrew found is $2250.

Sokomuri said a man has been questioned and released regarding the illegal production of homebrew.

Police confirmed the homebrew will be taken to the Koronivia Research Station to establish the percentage of alcohol content of the homebrew and after this is done, depending on the results, the man is likely to be charged.

Also, with regards to the homebrew raid in Tamavua-i-wai last week, police are still waiting for the results from the Koronivia Research Station.

They believe the reason for a number of people producing homebrew for the market is because of the high price of alcohol.
