The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has confirmed that the pharmacies at Makoi and Valelevu Health Centres are open from 8am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays and the pharmacy at CWM Hospital only operates from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

This was after Fijivillage received information that the pharmacy at the Makoi Health Centre, Valelevu Health Centre and CWM Hospital were closed over the weekend.

A 35-year-old woman had claimed that when she went to the Valelevu Health Centre Pharmacy at 10am Saturday morning, she was told that they were closed and referred to pick up her medication at the CWM Hospital.

The woman then claimed that when she arrived at the CWM Hospital pharmacy it was also closed.

The Health Ministry says that the hospital pharmacies only operate over the weekend within a certain time.

The Ministry adds that there is insufficient demand to justify longer operating hours of its pharmacies.

It has also revealed the managers of the pharmacies have confirmed that all three pharmacies in Makoi, Valelevu and CWM Hospital provided services as scheduled over the last weekend.
