As thousands of Hindus prepare to celebrate Ganesh Visarjan today, a devotee says people should let go of the negativity, jealousy and stress while immersing Lord Ganesha and look forward to the future opportunities.

The festival marks immersing Lord Ganesha into the water after 10 days of Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.

Lord Ganesha is considered the god of wisdom, wealth and fortune.

During this festival, Hindus around the world place Lord Ganesha on a platform in their homes to seek his blessings and love.

She says even though she could not perform the festival this year, she hopes that people will also consider the environment while performing the visarjan.

She also hopes that Hindus will reflect on the teachings of friendship, unity and honesty that will allow them to become better people in their lives.

The devotee further says during these 10 days, Ganesha is offered coconut, jaggery and modak (sweet dumplings), which are his favourite foods.

She adds that mandalis also have prayer sessions at night with devotional singing and dancing.
