Close to 5,000 people living in Raralevu, Namata, Naduru, Korociriciri and Vusuya in Tailevu will now have improved accessibility after the new Waidamu Bridge was officially opened by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

While officiating at the opening of the bridge, Bainimarama says the $4 million fully funded government project will also provide safer passage since the area is always prone to flooding.

He says the old bridge was one-lane and inconvenient.

Bainimarama says they are rebuilding infrastructure to be stronger and to be able to withstand the violent storms that we have been experiencing.

He says they are giving to the Fijian people the kind of infrastructure that they deserve and need.

Bainimarama says they are creating better transportation networks that free our people to do business, go to school and to travel safely while they take care of things that we do almost everyday.

He says they are currently building 9 more bridges at a cost of nearly $52 million.
