People flock to beaches and parks to celebrate New Year

People around the country today flocked to the beaches and parks to spend time with family and friends as a way to celebrate and spend the first day of 2017.

Fijivillage took to the people in Suva, as to how they were enjoying and Spending New Year’s Day.

In the Northern division hundreds of people made their way to Korovatu beach to celebrate New Year and enjoy the weather.

18-year-Arishma Sharma from New Zealand says this is her first time in Korovatu Beach.

Sharma says she is enjoying her time with her family in Korovatu Beach.

She says the weather is very good for a picnic.

Arishma says being around family makes this new year a memorable one.

Tabia High way Service station owner  Faiyum Khan is also celebrating new year with his friends and families.

Khan says today it is a very happy moment to enjoy BBQ with friends and family on the first day for 2017.
