People will not need to worry about going to the main cities and towns to get their birth registration number as the Ministry for Health is working on mobilizing a team to conduct COVID-19 vaccine registrations which will also have officials from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry.

The Head of Fiji's COVID-19 Vaccine Taskforce, Dr Rachel Devi confirms that people can just ask for their registration number free of charge and do not need to pay for printing of their birth certificates.

Devi says those who have access to the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry offices and post offices can also access their birth registration number for free.

While speaking in parliament today on the COVID-19 Strains and Vaccination Strategy, Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says their target is to vaccinate more than 95% of people above the age of 18 years.

Waqainabete says the deployment of the first batch of vaccine has provided an opportunity to test their plan, identify potential gaps in their process and put measures in place before the biggest vaccine exercise commences.
