Parliament met behind closed doors for about two hours earlier today.

Only parliamentary staff and officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of Fiji were in the parliament chambers for the session.

Speaker of Parliament, Doctor Jiko Luveni made the ruling earlier today after a request by the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum..

According to section 72(2) of the constitution, parliament and its committee may not exclude the public, including any media, from any sitting unless, in exceptional circumstances, the Speaker has ordered the exclusion of the public on grounds that are reasonable and justifiable.
