Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH Hospitals) has reached another major medical milestone with the successful completion of Fiji’s first mitral bioprosthetic valve replacement surgery at its Nadi facility.

The life-saving operation was performed on Ravindra Karan of Yalalevu Ba, who is now on the road to recovery with a renewed sense of hope and strength.

The procedure involved replacing a damaged mitral valve in the heart with a bioprosthetic valve, which is made from animal tissue and designed to improve heart function and blood flow. This surgery helps relieve symptoms such as shortness of breath and fatigue, and it significantly reduces the risk of heart failure.

Leading this ground-breaking surgery was done by Dr Sanjeev Khulbey, a renowned cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon with international expertise. procedures.
