The Manu Samoa side bounced back from their heavy loss to the Fiji Water Flying Fijians last Friday to claim a bonus 43-17 win over Tonga in Apia this evening in the second round of the Asahi Dry Pacific Nations Cup competition.

Samoa took a comfortable 17-0 lead at the break after scoring two converted tries and a penalty kick at goal.

They started strongly in the second half scoring two more tries and a conversion to extend their lead to 29-0 before Tonga came back and scored 17 points through a penalty kick at goal and two converted tries.

Samoa then scored another 2 converted tries in the final 7 minutes of the game to claim the win.

Samoa still sits in second place in pool A due to points differential as the Flying Fijians still top their pool.

Samoa will have a bye next week while Tonga heads home to host the Flying Fijians in Nuku’alofa.

Meanwhile, the USA Eagles will host Canada at 1pm this Sunday.
