In a quiet corner of Legalega, Nadi lives are being transformed every week not through miracles, but through medicine. PSH Hospitals has become a beacon of hope for patients across Fiji, performing high-risk heart surgeries that were once only available overseas.

The hospital’s cardiac team has recently completed several complex procedures, including double valve replacement surgeries, carotid artery endarterectomy, carotid patch repair with off-pump CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft), complex mediastinal and Lung surgeries, open-heart surgeries, and bypass surgeries. All carried out successfully in Fiji. For many families, it has meant one thing: a second chance at life.

One of those patients is 26-Years -Old Josefa Railoa from Savusavu, who was diagnosed with Double Valve Replacement Surgery. Travelling abroad for treatment was financially impossible, and local options were limited.

But when he arrived at PSH Hospitals, his family found new hope. A medical team of PSH Hospitals led by renowned Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon Dr Sanjeev Khulbey decided to take on his case. After hours in the operating theatre, the procedure was a success.

Josefa thanked the PSH Hospitals team for the exceptional care and support.

‘’This will change my life, and I thank doctors, nurses and everyone at the hospital,’’ he said.

Dr Khulbey says the hospital’s recent achievements show that advanced cardiac care can be successfully delivered in Fiji.

“These are not routine procedures; they are high-risk, high-precision operations that require advanced facilities and teamwork, we’re proud to be providing this level of care locally so patients no longer need to travel overseas,’’ he explained.

He adds that the goal is not just to perform surgeries, but to build long-term capacity within Fiji’s healthcare system.

“Our mission is to make advanced cardiac treatment accessible, affordable, and safe for everyone.”

Beyond the technology and surgical expertise, PSH Hospitals is earning praise for its patient-centered approach. From pre-surgery counselling to post-operative recovery, families are closely involved throughout the process.

“We know how stressful heart surgery can be,” says chief executive officer and founder of PSH Hospitals, Parvish Kumar.

“That’s why we focus on both the medical and emotional needs of our patients. Every recovery story here is deeply personal and deeply inspiring.”

As Fiji continues to advance its medical services, PSH Hospitals stands at the forefront of that progress. Its growing reputation for complex cardiac work is giving many Fijians renewed faith that world-class healthcare can be found right here at home.
