Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

The Fiji National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against All Women and Girls (NAP) is an action plan to stop the violence before it starts.

Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka emphasizes that this action plan is their non-negotiable, whole-of-government and whole-of-population commitment to stopping this violence before it even starts.

He adds that it is a costed, evidence-based, and globally significant plan - the first of its kind in the Pacific Island Countries, and only the second in the entire world, next to Australia.

He further highlights this unique status demonstrates the profound commitment of our nation to this cause.

Rabuka says the NAP is built on an understanding of the root causes of violence, primarily harmful gender norms and inequalities.

He further stresses that this is not a private matter, it is not a women's issue, adding it is a national crisis that diminishes all of us.

He says violence is not confined to one demographic adding that it affects the young and the old, cutting across all communities.
