PM reiterates he will resign as Army Commander
Prime Minister and Army Commander, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama reiterated to the soldiers in Nadi at a church service yesterday, that he will resign as Army Commander at the end of this month and appoint one of the senior officers to the post.

Present at the church service were senior officers, soldiers and their families.

He said he had a meeting with senior officers and told them not to forget the journey that started in 2000.

Commodore Bainimarama reminded the soldiers that if God knows they are doing the right thing, he will keep them and continue the journey with them.

He said that he had asked the senior officers in Suva some years back that he was going to take over the Government.

The Prime Minister said it was reported in the media that some officers did not support the move.

Commodore Bainimarama asked the senior officers back then whether they supported him and some said yes while others did not.

Commodore Bainimarama said those who did not support him left the Military and are now witnessing what the Military has done to date.

He said they should not be carried away by the negative comments by politicians.

Commodore Bainimarama told them to live a disciplined life and stressed that what the military stood for since 2000 must end well.
