Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama met with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her baby girl Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford at the UN General Assembly.

In a tweet this afternoon, Bainimarama thanked Ardern for bringing her baby girl to the UN General Assembly.

He went to say that having little Neve in the room is a humbling reminder that the world’s leaders must act not for ourselves but for the future of our children and our planet.

Ardern has made history by bringing her three‑month‑old daughter into the United Nations Assembly hall.

She told CNN she hoped the decision to bring her baby to the United Nations General Assembly would "create a path for other women."

Ardern's daughter Neve was in the audience as her mother addressed the assembly while her father, Clarke Gayford, held the baby.

Arden said she hoped someone would have captured the look on a Japanese delegation inside the UN yesterday who walked into a meeting room in the middle of a nappy change.
