Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has asked Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to reinforce his message as COP 23 President when he meets with US President Donald Trump this week.

Speaking at the 4th Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit in Melbourne, Bainimarama says he has asked the Australian Prime Minister to stand shoulder to shoulder with him to make Fiji’s presidency of COP 23 successful for the entire world.

Bainimarama says he has asked Prime Minister Turnbull to reinforce that America must stay in the Paris Agreement.

He says the message to Donald Trump and the message he hopes that Prime Minister Turnbull will also convey to him is very simple.

In his message to US President Donald Trump, Bainimarama calls on the US President not to abandon the Paris Agreement and let the whole side down by leaving when there is a clear game plan.

Bainimarama says this process will benefit all of the 7.5 billion people on planet earth including citizens in the vulnerable parts of America.
