PAFCO Shipment on-board MV Suilven was insured

Pacific Fishing Company (PAFCO) has today clarified that their shipment which was on-board the vessel MV Suilven was all insured.

The MV Suilven sunk near the Suva Harbour on Tuesday.

PAFCO Chairman Iqbal Janiff says the processed tuna loins was insured by Bumble Bee foods in the United States while the canned tuna and fish oil products for the local market were insured by PAFCO.

Janiff says they have enough canned tuna supplies to cover the loss and consumers will not be affected.

He has also denied that PAFCO is expected to make a $5 million loss.

Janiff says they have also had discussions with Venu Shipping who are the owners of MV Suilven and they have agreed to provide a replacement vessel.
