The Employment Relations Tribunal has received over 500 complaints of unfair dismissal, sexual harassment, working under duress and discrimination from employees for the first 7 months of this year.
Speaking at the launching of the two year project on supporting employment relations Law Reform by raising awareness on the Employment Regulations Promulgation, Tribunal Mediator Tevita Kunatuba said the Tribunal though being flooded with a high number of cases, has had a successful percentage of reconciliations.
Kunatuba said one of the new institutions under the new Employment Relations Promulgation was the opening up of the Tribunal to the whole of the Fiji workforce.
Under the partnership with the European Union, the Fiji Trades Union Congress will now hold training sessions for their members on how to deal with cases that are being brought to their attention.
