Our young players are not fazed by big names – Malolo Head Coach

Malolo Head Coach Rupeni Nahiga says his young side is not intimidated by the star power of their opponents and believes they can pull off an upset in the Skipper Cup final if they remain disciplined and focused.

Nahiga, a former Nadroga and Flying Fijians lock, praised his players after their semi-final win against Nadi, saying that the coaching the team this season has been a blessing due to the players’ eagerness to learn.

He says while they respected a top-tier team like Nadi featuring big names such as Swire Shipping Fijian Drua players Tuidraki Samusamuvodre and Kitione Salawa, they were not fazed.

Nahiga says his message to the team from the start of the season was clear is that they wanted to retain their spot in the Skipper Cup next year.

He adds that the team will regroup and prepare for their next challenge against a strong Naitasiri side.

Malolo will take on Naitasiri at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this Saturday.
