Opposition parliamentarians from SODELPA and NFP take their oath to uphold constitution

Opposition parliamentarians from the Social Democratic Liberal Party and the National Federation Party took their oaths to observe, uphold and maintain the constitution yesterday however they said outside parliament that they will continue to push for changes to the constitution.

Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa refused to comment.

However SODELPA’s opposition parliamentarian, Semesa Karavaki said their stand remains the same although they have taken their oath in parliament.

Opposition MP and National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad maintains they will continue their push for changes in the constitution.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has maintained that the constitution is focused on uniting Fiji and to ensure that the country moves away from race based policies.

He also said it is based on all Fiji citizens to have common and equal citizenry.

President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will address parliament at 10am tomorrow.
