Now is the time to press forward and open the doors of opportunity so that we can rebuild a Fiji that is non racial, culturally vibrant and united, well governed, inclusive and truly democratic.
These were the words of President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau in his address to the nation on the 42 years of independence.
With the constitution consultation underway, Nailatikau raised concern on the call by some people to make Fiji a Christian state.
The President said that the country has been through many challenges since 1970, has experienced many defining moments and life changing experiences.
However, Nailatikau said that we have for the past six years stabilized our security and our economic situation.
He added that there is a need to change the mind set of expecting government of the day alone to deliver all the goods and become proactive and contribute to move the country forward.
