Northern division can expect more tourists

From next month people from Vanua Levu will expect to see more tourists arrive on their shores.

This is the confirmation from the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama while opening the Macuata Provincial Council meeting in Naduri Village yesterday.

Tourists will be taken to Vanua Levu on Reef Endeavor, the biggest tourist ship of Captain Cook based in Nadi and will allow tourists to visit places like Druadrua, Kia, Malau and the Dreketi River.

Commodore Bainimarama added that these visits will not boost the economy but also allows the villagers to generate their own income through the sale of handicraft.

This is all part of the Look North Policy

Meanwhile, also as part of the Look North Policy Commodore Bainimarama had yesterday informed farmers in Vanua Levu that they will now have more access to selling their produce in towns and Viti Levu as Government will spend close to $3 million in road construction.

The Macuata Provinicial Council meeting continues in Naduri Village today.
