The six members of the new look Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) who will be appointed by the interim Minister of Fijian Affairs will not have to be installed chiefs or high chiefs of any province.
Speaking to Fijivillage, GCC Review team chairman, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo had made it clear that while the GCC regulation requires the three representatives from the 14 provinces to be installed chiefs, this will not be the same for the interim Fijian Affairs Ministers' appointments.
Nawalowalo said the six members will only need to be chiefs to qualify.
The new look GCC will have 42 provincial council nominations, 3 representative of the council of Rotuma, 6 members appointed by the Minister of the Fijian Affairs and including the Minister of Fijian Affairs to make up the 52 members of the GCC.
The GCC Review team will be in Rotuma this week to do a presentation to the council of Rotuma.
