No further comments from Ministry of Health regarding death of 18-month-old in Ba

The Ministry of Health has stated that it will not make any further comments regarding the death of 18-month-old Hao Yuan Peng in Ba last week.

The Ministry states the death is currently the subject of a post-mortem inquiry by police and the Ministry is unable to provide further comments on the matter at this time.

Fijivillage had approached the Ministry on whether it is conducting an investigation to determine if this was a case of negligence by the hospital staff.

The Ministry of Health in its response stated that a full investigation will be carried out and the findings of the investigations will be disclosed to the baby’s parents.

The toddler was taken to the Ba Mission Hospital last Thursday as he had a fever.

The parents of the 18-month old say the child was taken inside a room and was given an injection.

The parents say that the nurses had taken in the child alone and he was crying but after a while they couldn’t hear his voice anymore.

They say when they looked into the room they saw that their son’s body had changed color.

The parents are calling for answers from the Ministry on what happened to their son.
