"The opening of this new road, from Korovou to Lodoni should open up more businesses and new markets, not only to the villages in Tailevu, but also to people living in Vanua Levu."
These are sentiments echoed by Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama after opening the new Lodoni Road yesterday.
Meanwhile, Terry Vokavoka of Natovi Mission Compound said that the new road will give the school children an incentive to strive for higher education as it now allows easy access to schools in the city.
Vokavoka added that they also expect more frequent bus services in the area and this will also allow for villagers to visit their villagers more frequently.
Speaking on the same note, Teresia Mateyawa, originally from Vanua Levu and is married into a village to Tailevu said that she knows what it is like to face the rough and rugged roads in the yesteryears, and all the hardship she faced is now a thing of the past.
The villages of Nananu, Burelevu, Sawakasa, Burerua, Matacula, Namena and the two prominent boy’s schools, RKS and QVS will benefit from the new road.
