A new maternity unit will be constructed in 8 miles, Nasinu to cater for pregnant women living in Makoi, Narere, Tovata and the greater Nasinu area.
This has been confirmed by Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Sunil Chandra who said that the construction work is expected to start from next month.
Chandra said they are finalizing the contract agreement with the contractor.
Chandra said the reason for having maternity facility at 8 miles is to make health facilities more easily accessible to the people.
The new maternity unit which will be built on the state land near the Bhanabhai Health Center is expected to cost $5 million.
