New Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge to be completed in 2 years and 8 months

Great news for people travelling along the Queens Highway as the groundbreaking ceremony for the $70 million the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge, funded by the Japanese Government, took place this morning.

Japanese Ambassador Michii Rokuichiro confirmed that the new bridge is expected to be completed and ready for use in 2 years and 8 months.

While speaking during the event, Minister for Infrastructure Ro Filipe Tuisawau says Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge is strategic as it is a vital access point to Suva City.

Ro Filipe says they have other plans to explore a new connecting route from Delainavesi or just before Lami Town, linking it to Wailoku or Princes Road.

The Minister further says a highway will be essential to support people to the essential services and promote development along that corridor.

While addressing criticism of the government’s infrastructure pace, Ro Filipe says the previous government had 16 years while they are in their third year.

He adds that if they get the same time everything will be perfect in Fiji.

About 200 workers will be involved in the construction of the new bridge.
