The re-branded Nasese Private Hospital at Ratu Sukuna Road will be the only hospital in Fiji which will provide hip and knee replacement surgeries.

Knee or hip surgery will cost around $18,000.

The hospital which was known as the Nasese Medical Centre underwent a $6 million refurbishment, contains 42 beds and employs more than 40 staff.

Dr Vigilio De Asa who is the head of the hospital says they have got all the necessary equipment to perform hip and knee replacement surgeries and have already done a few surgeries.

Dr De Asa says the facility will aim to provide professional and clinical services to patients with their core values of care, integrity and commitment.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimrama says they are in the process of building the finest healthcare system in the Pacific and need to unite efforts of the public and private sector to achieve that.

Bainimarama says the hospital will also acquire the first private Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment in Fiji which will be a great help in making accurate diagnosis.
