Nadi Police Station

The new $20 million Nadi Police Station has been officially opened today by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka.

While speaking at the opening ceremony, Gavoka says this new facility is a promise of safety, integrity, and unwavering commitment to every citizen and visitor who calls Fiji home.

He says for decades, the old station served the district with dedication, but as Nadi grew, welcoming more families, more businesses, and more visitors, the demands on law enforcement outpaced the capacity of that facility.

The Minister says they knew it was time for change, and this new facility is a modern, fully equipped station designed to meet the needs of a vibrant and expanding community.

He adds that one of the most significant features of this station is the dedicated Tourist Police Team.

He further adds that these officers are the first line of reassurance for visitors, and they protect not only people but also the reputation of Fiji as a safe and welcoming destination.

The Deputy Prime Minister says their work strengthens trust, supports local businesses, and ensures that every traveller leaves with memories of warmth and security.

While speaking to the officers, Gavoka reminded them of their role, saying they are more than enforcers of the law.

He says they are guardians of peace, protectors of hope, and builders of trust, and they hold the power to restore confidence and strengthen relationships.

The Minister says they are the silent strength that allows communities to flourish, and their actions every day will shape how people feel about their safety, their dignity, and their future.

Gavoka acknowledged that challenges exist, saying that past mistakes have tested trust and some actions have caused pain.

He says this station is a symbol of renewal, a place where integrity and courage are not just expected but lived.

He stressed that every officer has the opportunity to lead by example, inspire confidence, and usher in a new era of trust in the Force.

The Deputy Prime Minister called on the officers to serve with courage and integrity and to uphold the law with fairness and honour.

He urged them to protect every person in the district and lead with heart and purpose.

Gavoka also called on the people of Nadi to work hand in hand with the officers, support them, and build trust together.

He says every citizen has a role to play in creating safe and vibrant communities.

The Minister says together, they can ensure Nadi continues to grow as a district that is secure, welcoming, and full of hope.
