Neutral/Trustworthy lawyers needed

Following calls for independence and transparency of the judicial system the Interim Prime Minister has come out and said that the public needs neutral and trustworthy lawyers and judges.

Speaking at the launch of the Annual Attorney General's Conference, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said that lawyers are paid to do their jobs and should provide a good service and he goes on to say, that if it were up to him, he would put them through military training to be able to do so.

Bainimarama also said that judges that are bound under the Judicial Code of Ethics must be neutral.

The meeting is being held at the Fijian Resort and will continue throughout the day.
