New Zealand has pledged an additional NZD$40 million in budget support to the Fijian Government.

This was revealed during a meeting between Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the New Zealand High Commissioner, Jonathan Curr.

According to a government statement, the budget support reaffirms New Zealand’s confidence in Fiji’s ability to effectively manage its economic response and recovery from the pandemic.

Sayed-Khaiyum thanked Curr for his service in Fiji and for his personal commitment to strengthening the Fiji-NZ relationship, and by also helping to secure the delivery of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to immunize under 18s in Fiji.

The New Zealand government had also offered a grant contribution of approximately $60 million in budget support to Fiji in May this year.
