Movement in Nadi Town is still restricted for the security of the businesses despite receding flood waters.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has told fijivillage News that they are allowing vehicles to pass through.

He says the restriction is for the safety of all Fijians and the security of the central business area of Nadi.

Driu adds the restrictions are also aimed at protecting properties in town from opportunists.

He further says police standby teams have already begun evacuating people from disaster-affected areas and will continue to remain on standby tonight.

The Fiji Police Force will maintain vigilance and continue monitoring the situation in the flooded areas of the Western Division.
