More than 500 families to benefit from the Mua Solar Farm Project in Taveuni

More than 500 families will benefit from the Mua Solar Farm Project in Taveuni as they will now have access to electricity through the installation of 2,880 solar panels.

Project Designer, Avinesh Sen says the solar panels will be connected to the Taveuni Electricity Grid which will supply electricity to every household.

Sen says the project started in 2019 and is funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which is also working in collaboration with the Fiji Government and Energy Fiji Limited.

He says the project was delayed due to COVID-19 however it is expected to be commissioned next month.

While visiting the Mua Solar Farm Project, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Sakiasi Ditoka says the government is targeting households to have access to electricity to make their lives better.

Ditoka says each panel will produce 370 watts of electricity and also acknowledged KOICA for their initiative.
