The Ministry of Health is looking to address discrepancies that have existed and remain uncollected for many years up until now from nurses in Fiji.

Minister for Health Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu stated this in response to a question asked by Opposition MP Penioni Ravunawa on their plans to review salary anomalies existing among the Dental and Allied Health professionals in the public sector.

Ratu Atonio says the Ministry has acknowledged and recognised the importance of addressing these salary discrepancies that have existed and been uncorrected for many years until today.

He says it is an ongoing process that does take time and effort and requires a wide consultation with stakeholders, including the Government agencies and they have also started their nursing cadre which the Government has endorsed and will anticipate other submissions.

MP Ravunawa again asked the supplementary question if the Minister could provide a projected timeline for these changes to happen.

Doctor Lalabalavu says they will talk to the Ministry of Finance.
