Ministry assists 3 women who were in State care get jobs after training at Marriott

Three women who have left State care after reaching the age of 18 have been able to get a job after undergoing training at the Marriott International.

According to the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection, over the past year, Assistant Minister Sashi Kiran has been working with Marriott to help train and provide employment opportunities for youths at risk.

They say the program, was piloted on these three young women who were able to join other young women undergoing skills training and eventually employment placement.

They add moving forward, the Human Resource team at Mariott is developing a training and support program for a new batch of 20 youths who are currently in State care in order to provide a pathway towards sustainable employment for them.

The Ministry says through this initiative, 12 youths from Nadave Technical College and 12 from Ministry of Youth Employment Fair have secured employment with the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.

Meanwhile, Kiran has acknowledged Multi Property Vice President - Pacific Islands Neeraj Chadha and Complex Assistant Director of Human Resources Vinod Kumar for their willingness to engage in the process, their patience and kindness as they try to chart a course for young people.
