Men should be included in discussions about breast cancer – Akbar
Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar.

Men should be included in the discussions about breast cancer because the biggest support will come from your spouse, partner and children.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar during the awareness initiative event at Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Nasese today.

She says the victim of a woman who passes away from cancer is her children.

She acknowledged the healthcare professionals for continuously pushing women to conduct self examination and providing medical treatment.

She says it is horrifying to see that women reach last stage of cancer because they are ignored.

Akbar adds we are lucky to be around urban centres and have access to heath services and information which needs to be taken out to rural communities and maritime islands to put women on the same platform and save lives.

Akbar says the numbers increasing at the hospital is a good sign because means more people are reaching out to doctors which means awareness is working and breast cancer is no longer a taboo.
