Marked increase in people being admitted at Saint Giles Hospital

There has been a marked increase in people being admitted at the St Giles Hospital when compared to previous years.

This has been revealed by Director Nursing Services Miliakere Nasorovakawalu who has worked at St Giles Hospital for 27 years.

She says before they used to have 20 admissions in a month but now it is more than 60.

She also highlighted that there is an increase in young people going to St Giles and their age group is between 14 to 18 years.

Nasorovakawalu says some of the reasons why people are being admitted include being suicidal, social issues and history of substance abuse.

She adds that people have different ways of coping mechanisms.
